Ann Corwell

Ann Corwell was named Executive Director, Greater West Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce, in January 2006.  She is responsible for Chamber administration, member development and retention, events planning and staging, promotion and publicity, financial initiatives and is Board liaison.

Ann is a corporate communications executive with extensive experience in automotive, consumer goods and health and beauty industries.   She also has counseled senior executives in business-to-business programs, business retention and growth, sales presentations and general corporate communications. 

She has diversified strategic management experience, including communications planning, staff and budget management, media and community relations, recruiting/sales counseling management, employee communication and special event planning and implementation.

Her experience includes management-level communications positions with General Motors Corporation (Detroit, New York, Pontiac), The Pillsbury Company (Minneapolis), and Avon Products Inc. (New York).  She also was partner and executive vice president with MECA International Public Relations, a full-service marketing communications firm, formerly headquartered in Bloomfield Hills, now in  Birmingham and Stuart, FL.  Ann also was  Vice President, College Relations, William Tyndale College, Farmington Hills.

She holds MBA and BA degrees from Michigan State University.

Ann has been honored with the national Outstanding Alumnus Award from the Eli Broad School of Business (Michigan State University) and the College of Communication Arts and Sciences (Michigan State University).  She also has been recognized as a Distinguished Nominee, Executive Woman of the Year Award, sponsored by Grant Thornton, Crain’s Detroit Business and Butzel Long.  She was the recipient of the national Clarion Award from Women in Communications Inc.  She was named Outstanding Young Woman by the Michigan Junior Chamber of Commerce and an Outstanding Young Careerist by the Michigan Business and Professional Women.
